Iris had some friends who were concerned about her decision to volunteer in a study, but she eased those fears by explaining to them that an HIV vaccine was for HIV negative people, and that she wouldn't be exposed to HIV in the study. She wanted to be a part of finding a vaccine because she wanted to help end the epidemic.
